Speaking at a jobs summit in Fremont, Calif., last week, President Obama again asked Congress for a bill that would provide loans to rebuild roads and bridges. “We used to have the best roads, the best bridges, the best airports,” the President said. “We don’t anymore.”
Excerpts of the speech were carried on KGO-TV San Francisco (Obama wants new jobs, not debt additions), along with comments from attendees of the jobs summit. The President said that investing in infrastructure is critical to jobs creation.
“That could put people back to work right now, construction workers back to work right now,” Obama said. “Don’t just look at future regulations, regulations that we’re proposing. Let’s go back and look at regulations that are already on the books, and if they don’t make sense, let’s get rid of them.”
