The price of asphalt jumped by 1.5 percent from May to June, according to the latest Producer Price Index issued by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This was the third consecutive month of increases. The steel price index decreased by 1.7 percent, concrete was down by 0.1 percent and lumber declined by 0.5 percent. From June of 2010, the steel PPI has increased 7 percent, the asphalt PPI is up 6 percent, and the lumber PPI has declined 3.1 percent. The concrete price index has declined 0.2 percent during the same period.
